• Q: What is a ceramic coating?

A: A ceramic coating, in the context of automotive detailing and protective coatings, is a liquid polymer that is applied to the exterior surfaces of a vehicle, typically the paint, to provide a durable and protective layer. While it is called a "ceramic" coating, it does not actually contain ceramics but is formulated using silicon dioxide (SiO2) or a similar compound that gives it ceramic-like properties.

It's important to note that applying a ceramic coating requires careful surface preparation and a thorough understanding of the product and its application process. Many car owners choose to have ceramic coatings professionally applied to ensure the best results. Some of the advantages of a ceramic coating include; protection from UV Rays, bird droppings, industrial fallout, etc. Enhanced gloss and shine, self-cleaning and hydrophobic properties.

While ceramic coatings offer numerous advantages, they are not a substitute for proper car care practices such as regular washing, detailing, and maintenance. Additionally, the performance and longevity of a ceramic coating can vary by how well it is maintained.

  • Q: What is paint correction?

A: This is the process of refining the clear coat on a vehicle to remove scratches, swirls, and oxidation. This leaves behind an even surface that increases the overall gloss and clarity of the paint.

  • Q: What is snow foam?

A: Snow foam is specific car soap that is applied to all exterior surfaces via a foam cannon using a pressure washer. This helps to break down and encapsulate the dirt on the vehicle and provide lubrication during the wash process to lessen the chances of scratching the paint. It also looks really cool!

  • Q: What is a clay bar treatment?

A: A clay bar is a clay-like product that is designed to remove embedded contamination from the paint of your vehicle that was not removed during the wash process. Have you ever washed your car and felt little specs or that the paint was not very smooth? The job of the clay bar treatment is to safely and effectively remove these contaminates. This is also crucial in the application of any coating for your paint as the coating needs a clean and smooth surface to bond to.

  • Q: What is chemical decontamination?

A: This is the use of specifically designed chemicals to remove embedded particles and other contaminations from the paint and other exterior surfaces of the vehicle. This is usually iron deposits from brake dust, tar from roads, and tree sap. Using a chemical to remove these from the exterior minimizes the potential for scratching the vehicles clear coat.

  • Q: How long do services take?

A: As every vehicle is different and has specific needs it depends on the vehicle and the service. A complete interior detail is typically in the 5-7 hour range where a ceramic coating is a 2 day minimum.
